Livingstone, NC - Bluefield State University women's basketball battled to victory in an overtime thriller at Livingstone, 97-92. The Big Blue improve to 8-6 overall and 2-3 in CIAA play.
The Big Blue took the early lead, outscoring the Blue Bears 21-12 in the first and carried that momentum into the half with the 41-32 advantage. The Blue Bears stormed back out of the half, outscoring the Big Blue 28-12 in the third. The Big Blue bounced back with a 26 point fourth quarter to force overtime, where the Big Blue pulled away to secure the 97-92 victory.
The Big Blue defense recorded 20 steals while forcing 31 turnovers, which led to 35 points off turnovers. The Big Blue dominated the paint, outscoring the Blue Bears 56-44 in the interior.
Azahreya Drayton-Gill led the Big Blue with a game high 21 points. Leniyah Fulsom provided a significant spark off the bench with 18 points while Jayla Sample added 12. Jasmine Jenkins and Mia Little both finished in double figures with 10 points each, with Jenkins controlling the boards for the Big Blue with eight.
