Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University women's basketball closed out the regular season with an 84-62 victory over Elizabeth City State. The Big Blue finish the regular season 14-11 overall and 8-8 in CIAA play.
The Big Blue took the lead early, holding the 42-35 lead at the half. The Big Blue defense took control in the third quarter, holding the Vikings to just four points while scoring 23 of their own.
The Big Blue forced 45 turnovers and recorded 27 steals. The Big Blue capitalized on the Viking miscues, scoring 45 points off of turnovers and 32 fast-break points.
Jhakia Gist led all scorers with 19 points while adding four rebounds and two steals. Azahreya Drayton-Gill added 14 points, five steals and two blocks. Jasmine Jenkins contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and six steals with Tianna Rhodes coming away with 12 points.
