Baltimore, MD – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Claflin 70-68 to advance to the Semifinals of the CIAA tournament.
In a back-and-forth battle, Claflin held the narrow 31-28 lead at the half; However, the Big Blue found its offensive rhythm in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 42-37 in the second half to secure the comeback victory. The Big Blue dominated the glass, outrebounding the Panthers 35-27 and turning 15 offensive rebounds into 23 second-chance points.
Myles Pierre led the Big Blue with 19 points and five rebounds, including a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. Ellija Preddy followed with 16 points and three steals. Warren Mouganda, MVP of the Game, recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Anthony Davenport also reached double figures with 13 points and eight boards while Anthony Latty finished with six rebounds.
