Baltimore, MD – Bluefield State University men's basketball punched their ticket to the CIAA Championships with a 71-66 victory over Virginia State.
The Big Blue dominated the opening period holding the Trojans to just 16 points and took the 11 point lead into the half; however, Virginia State scored 50 points to keep the game close in the final seconds. The Big Blue converted on 25-of-33 attempts compared the Trojans 15-of-19 from the line.
Myles Pierre finished with a game-high 23-points, knocking down 17-of-18 free throws. Anthony Davenport finished with 14 points and six rebounds. Elljia Preddy added 10 points and four assists, while Anthony Latty led the defense with eight rebounds and two blocks.
