Ettrick, VA – Bluefield State University men's and women's traveled to Virginia State University to claim four victories. Both teams improve to 4-1 on the year.
Inside the Men's Matches:
The Big Blue secured the 7-0 sweep in the first match and a 4-0 victory in the nightcap. In the opening match, the Big Blue took the doubles point with 6-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 2, and a 6-0 shutout at No. 3 by Mateo Aldaz and Adam Greenburg.
In singles, the momentum continued:
In the second match, the men again secured the doubles point and picked up quick singles wins from Mateo Aldaz (6-0, 6-1), Pranav Sirivella (6-0, 6-0), Juan Benitez (6-1, 6-0) to seal the 4-0 win.
Inside the Women's Matches:
The Big Blue battled through two tough CIAA contests to sweep the doubleheader, winning the opener 4-3 and the second 4-1.
The Big Blue bounced back from a loss in doubles to take four of the six singles matches:
- Ekin Ozmen delivered a strong performance at No. 1 winning 6-1, 6-3.
- Anna Felip outlasted her opponents in three sets at No. 2, 7-5, 3-6 and 7-6.
- Adriana Torroba was dominant at No. 4, securing a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
- Sirisha Dheer added a point at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-0 win to clinch the match.
In the second match, the Big Blue secured the doubles point to take an early lead. Anna Felip and Raajitha Koganti won 7-5 at No. 2, while Sirisha Dheer and Isabella Disibbio fought for a 7-6 [7-4] win at the No. 3 spot.
The Big Blue took that momentum into the singles to seal the sweep:
- Ekin Ozmen earned a shutout win at No. 1, 6-0, 6-0.
- Anna Felip followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.
- Adriana Torroba rounded out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4
