Petersburg, VA – Bluefield State University men's basketball fell to Virginia State in the Championship game of the Black College Invitational Championship (BCIC) 69-66.
The Big Blue used four threes to take the 36-28 lead into the half. The Big Blue faced an early five-point deficit, but the Big Blue used an 8-0 scoring run to take back the lead. The Big Blue pushed the lead to their largest of the first half in the final minute of the half after a jumper from Ellija Preddy.
The Big Blue had their largest lead of the night after Anthony Davenport connected on two free throws, 56-45. The Trojans scored the final 12 points of the matchup to take down the Big blue 69-66.
Ellija Preddy led the Big Blue with 20 points followed by Myles Pierre with 12 points. Anthony Davenport and Kyree Smith both finished with 10 points each with Davenport and Anthony Latty adding eight rebounds each.
