Lincoln, PA / Bowie, MD - Bluefield State University softball closed out the regular season with back-to-back double headers against Lincoln (PA) and Bowie State. The Big Blue swept the Lions 8-2 and 5-2 on Friday before falling to the Bulldogs 11-9 and 10-4 on Saturday.
Game one: 8-2 W
After going scoreless through three, Sydney Leadbetter to put the Big Blue on the board. The Lions answered in the bottom of the inning with two to take the lead. The Big Blue took control late, scoring four in the sixth and three in the seventh to secure the win.
Yonah Rogers earned the complete game win, allowing three hits, two runs while striking out one.
Game two: 5-2 W
A three run home run in the second from Alexis Coles gave the Big Blue the early lead. The Big Blue extended their lead 5-0 in the fourth after adding two. The Lions added one in both the sixth and seventh innings but couldn't overcome the deficit set by the Big Blue.
Yonah Rogers earned her second win of the day, throwing five innings allowing four hits while striking out one.
Game one: 11-9 L
The Big Blue took the early 2-0 lead in the first after a two-run home run by Skyy Hicks. The Bulldogs took the 3-2 lead in the second, but the Big Blue answered with four runs in the third, including a two RBI double from Janessah Nappi and a two RBI single from Hailey Trujillo. The Bulldogs took the 11-7 lead after a five run sixth inning. The Big Blue plated two in the seventh, but fell short.
Yonah Rogers took the loss in the circle, allowing 12 hits, 11 runs, three walks while striking out one.
Game two: 10-4 L
Trailing 1-0 going into the third, the Big Blue took the lead after a two run RBI triple by Hicks and an RBI groundout by Leadbetter. The Bulldogs took control, scoring nine runs to take the 10-3 lead into the sixth. The Big Blue added one in the sixth after an RBI double from Hicks before falling 10-4.
Jackie Sandy took the loss, throwing four innings allowing nine hits, 10 runs, three walks while striking out two.
