Big Blue Fall to Lincoln in Elimination Game, 2-1

Orangeburg, SC – Bluefield State University softball closed out its season on Friday following a narrow 2-1 loss to Lincoln (PA) in the CIAA Softball Championship. The Big Blue finish the 2026 season with an overall record of 22-26.

The contest was a defensive stalemate for majority of the contest, as Yonah Rogers kept the Lions off the board through five complete innings. The Big Blue threatened early with hits from Skyy Hicks and Sydney Leadbetter in the first and a leadoff single from Rogers in the second, but both sides remained scoreless heading into the late frames.

The Lions broke the silence in the top of the sixth, using a two-RBI double to center field to take a 2-0 lead.

The Big Blue refused to go quietly in the bottom of the sixth. Leadbetter sparked a rally with a two-out double to left field, and Janessah Nappi followed with a clutch RBI single to bring home pinch runner Mikaylah Chimara, cutting the lead to 2-1.

In the final inning, pinch hitter Madison Roland drew a leadoff walk to put the tying run on base, but the Lions recorded three outs to take the win.

Yonah Rogers threw the complete game in the circle, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out three.
