Greenville, TN — Bluefield State University football team opened its 2026 season Thursday night, falling to Tusculum University, 42-7.
The Big Blue offense managed to grab 196 yards, including 112 rushing and 84 passing. Derek Binder led Bluefield State on the ground with 58 rushing yards on just five carries, including a 40-yard run. Wide receiver Brandon Wiley contributed offensively, catching five passes for 59 yards while also scoring the lone touchdown for the Big Blue.
Defensively, linebacker Rowan Baptiste and Defensive back Kamaree Wells helped on the back end and led the Big Blue with six tackles each. Defensive linemen Aiden Morgan and Ladainian Pless helped on the front lines, recording five tackles. The Big Blue finished with four team sacks.
