Athens, WV – Bluefield State University Volleyball went 2-1 at the Concord Classic, securing a pair of wins over Davis & Elkins before dropping their final match against host Concord University.
Game one: Bluefield State 3, Davis & Elkins 2
The Big Blue kicked off the tournament by outlasting Davis & Elkins in five sets. The Big Blue dropped set one, 22-25, but bounced back to take set two (25-13) and set three (25-17) before the Senators claimed set four to force the deciding set. The Big Blue closed out the fifth set with a six-point scoring run to secure the victory.
Callesta Styles and
Soniya Garner led the Big Blue with 11 kills each with Styles adding 12 blocks.
Kaileigh Solis finished with 20 digs while
Tessa Heffner collected 19 assists.
Game two: Bluefield State 3, Davis & Elkins 0
In the second matchup against the Senators, the Big Blue offense clicked early to secure the dominate 3-0 win (25-16, 25-14, 25-18).
Jessi Williams led the offense with seven kills while Heffner dished out 18 assists and four aces.
Kaileigh Solis collected 13 digs with
Syah Neal finished with three blocks.
Game three: Bluefield State 0, Concord 3
In the final game of the tournament, the Big Blue battled through a closely contested opening set that featured 12 ties before falling late, 25-23. The Mountain Lions maintained momentum to take the three-set win (25-15, 25-18). Styles led the Big Blue with 10 kills and five blocks, while Garner added six kills and Solis recorded 16 digs.
