Box Score Athens, WV – Bluefield State University volleyball dropped a four-set decision on the road against Concord (16-25, 13-25, 25-23, 17-25). The loss moves the Big Blue to 5-4 on the year.
Kandace Griffin led the Big Blue offense with a team-high 12 kills, while Jada Burns added nine kills while hitting .304. Defensively, Kaileigh Solis and Tessa Heffner anchored the Big Blue with 15 digs each. Heffner also added 20 assists with Mekenna Scott finishing with 13 assists of her own. At the net, Callesta Styles posted three block assists and four kills.
The Mountain Lions claimed set one and two to take the early advantage. The Big Blue answered back in set three. After trading points early, the Big Blue capitalized on Concord errors and crucial net play to build a 24-18 lead. The Mountain Lions scored five consecutive points to pull within one, but a final set kill from Burns secured the match 25-23.
In the fourth set, the Mountain Lions took control early. Despite late kills from Williams and Griffin, the Mountain Lions held off the Big Blue push to take set four 25-17.
