Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University volleyball earned a thrilling four-set victory over crosstown rival Bluefield University on Wednesday, taking the match 3-1 (26-28, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19) inside Ned Shott Gymnasium.
The Rams captured set one 28-26 to claim the early advantage, but the Big Blue responded with a strong offensive frame to level the match with a 25-23 set two win. The Big Blue used that momentum to secure the 25-22 set three win before taking set four 25-19 to seal the rivalry win.
The Big Blue offense was powered by Soniya Garner, who delivered 14 kills, nine digs and three blocks with Callesta Styles adding seven kills and seven blocks. Tessa Heffner finished with 29 assists while Kaileigh Solis secured a team-high 17 digs.
