Bluefield, WV — Bluefield State University soccer earned a 2-0 victory over Allen University on Saturday at East River Soccer Complex, improving to 2-3-2.
The Big Blue wasted little time finding the back of the net, as
Iyana Campbell scored just one minute into the match to give Bluefield State an early 1-0 advantage.
Bluefield State continued to pressure the Allen defense throughout the opening half, recording 11 shots and three corner kicks.
The Big Blue added to their lead in the 33rd minute when
A'mya Ross found the back of the net, giving Bluefield State a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime.
The Big Blue defense kept Allen off the scoreboard throughout the second half, preserving the shutout.
Bluefield State finished the match with a 15-2 advantage in shots, including a 7-0 edge in shots on goal. The Big Blue also held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Ross led the Big Blue with three shots, including two on goal, while Campbell finished with two shots and two shots on goal.
Haifa Rios and
Mareli Farias also recorded shots on target for Bluefield State.
