Sudan Ellington

Sudan Ellington is in his first year at Bluefield State coaching the Defensive Line. Coach Ellington comes to Bluefield State after spending the 2022 season at Livingstone College where he worked with the Running Backs and assisted with the Offensive Line.

In May of 2023 Coach Ellington was selected to coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of the NFL’s Bill Walsh Fellowship. In Jacksonville, Coach Ellington worked closely with both the Defensive Line and Outside Linebackers.

Before moving to the college ranks, Sudan worked with the Offensive and Defensive line at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, IN. In addition, he served as the Offensive and Defensive Line Development Coach at DeMatha Catholic High School, Hyattsville, MD.

Coach Ellington has developed some of top players in both College and the NFL. Among those are Chase Young (Washington Commanders), Yetur Gross Matos (Carolina Panthers), Jaylen Twyman (Miami Dolphins), Quinnen Williams (New York Jets), Daron Payne (Washington Commanders), and Bryan Bresee (New Orleans Saints) to name a few.

Ellington played his high school football at Princess Anne High School, Virginia Beach VA (1st Team Honor) and Bishop Connell High School, Arlington, VA (All- Met). He committed to the University of Tennessee in 2001 and later transferred to James Madison University to play Defensive End where he was a key member of the 2005 National Championship Team.

A Native of Birmingham, Alabama, Ellington Graduated from James Madison University (Kinesiology Major Business Administration Minor) in 2006. He married his wife, Jaya Nelson Ellington in Nov 2018
