Ray Broughton joined Bluefield State University Athletics in August 2025 as the Associate Head Coach for the Men’s Basketball program.
Broughton brings over 20 years of coaching experience across the collegiate, high school, AAU, and international levels, along with 23 years of military service.
He previously served as an assistant coach at Elizabeth City State for four seasons and at Fayetteville State for three seasons. He also led Prince George High School girls’ basketball in Virginia to an 85-9 record over four years and founded the Oki Ice Basketball Club in Okinawa, Japan, in 2010.
During his Army career, Broughton rose to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer-3 before honorably retiring. His leadership, discipline, and commitment to player development continue to shape his coaching philosophy.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Broughton earned his Master of Business Administration from Ashford University.
