Jayla Sample returns to the Bluefield State Women’s Basketball program in a new capacity, transitioning from student-athlete to Graduate Assistant Coach. After spending three years as a player at BState, Sample brings a strong understanding of the program, its expectations, and the commitment required to compete at a high level.
During her playing career, Sample earned the respect of her teammates and coaches through her hard work, maturity, leadership, and dedication both on and off the court. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, service, and personal growth that will continue to serve her well as she begins her coaching career.
As a former player, Sample brings a valuable perspective to the coaching staff and a natural ability to connect with current student-athletes. The same work ethic, competitiveness, and maturity that made her an asset on the court are expected to make an immediate impact as she transitions to the sidelines.
The Bluefield State Women’s Basketball program is excited to welcome Jayla back and looks forward to watching her grow into this new role while helping develop the next generation of BState student-athletes.
