Greg Warren

Gregory Warren is set to begin his first season at Bluefield State College, becoming the
college’s first Strength and Conditioning Coach in athletic program’s history. Coach Warren will
oversee strength and conditioning for Bluefield State’s 400 athletes and the college’s 22 men’s
and women’s teams. 

Warren grew up in Washington D.C., but has called Charlotte, NC home since he was 14
years old. He gained an interest in strength and conditioning in high school. He attributes his
high school weight lifting experiences as a catalyst for why he is a strength and conditioning
coach today.

He graduated from North Carolina A&T in 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Sports
Science and Fitness Management, and began his 10 year coaching career as an intern from
2011-2014 at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. There he taught, and implemented strength and
conditioning programs for Men’s Lacrosse, as well as Men’s and Women’s Soccer. He had brief
stops at Gardner-Webb University and San Jose State University before becoming the Assistant
Strength and Conditioning Coach at University of Virginia’s College at Wise in Wise, VA from
2015-2016. There he taught, and implemented programs for Women’s Golf, Women’s
Basketball, Men’s Tennis, and Women’s Lacrosse.

He stepped away from collegiate coaching to teach and coach in the public school
systems of Charlotte, NC.

He got his first chance at being a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2019, when
he became a Graduate Assistant at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. There he was
given the assignment of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at University High School in
Morgantown. As the UHS strength coach, he oversaw a drastic change in the weight lifting
program’s culture and participation. Increasing the participating teams from four to seventeen,
and showing an increase of female participation. He taught, administered, and implemented
programs that include Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer,
and Baseball. 

He graduated from West Virginia University in 2021 with a Masters’ in Sport Coaching
and Education. Warren is certified by the National Strength Coaches Association (NSCA)
