Louisville, KY.—The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team started the 2015-16 season on the road. The Lady Blues lost 50-96 to a very tough Bellarmine University team this afternoon in Louisville, KY.

For the game, the Lady Blues shot 35.1% from the field, 35.7% from the 3-point line, and 45.5% from the free-throw line. Bellarmine shot 52.1% from the field, 29% from the three-point line, and 68.8% from the free-throw line.

The Lady Blues committed 37 turnovers and grabbed 34 rebounds compared to their opponents' 20 turnovers and 43 rebounds. Bellarmine also took 16 more shot attempts (73 to 57) than the Lady Blues.

Sophomore Chaunte McDowell had 14 points (team high), 4 steals, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist. Freshman Lyndsay Hatfield (pictured) had 10 points (4-for-7 from the field and 2-for-4 from the three-point line), she also grabbed 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal.

Juniors Tanasia Blake had 8 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist. Senior Janae Williams had 7 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block on the night.

The Lady Blues look to grab their first win of the season against rival Concord University on Nov. 18th, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in Athens, W.Va.
