Box Score Greeneville, TN- The Big Blues baseball team was back in action today as they played a single game against the Tusculum Pioneers. This game looked over early as Tusculum had a 6-0 lead through the 9th inning. But give credit to the Big Blues as they never gave up and made it a game at the end by getting 4 runs in the 9th. But the 6 run hole was too much for the Big Blues and the game ended with a final score of 6-4.
Jacob Muncy (0-1) was on the mound to start for the Big Blues. He had a strong outing allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits, walking 4 and fanning 6 over 6 innings. Will Kapke and Cole Blocker came on for relief as they each pitched 1 inning a piece. Will came on in the 7th and gave up 3 runs after walking 2 and a single up the middle. Cole came on in the 8th giving up 1 run on 2 hits but struck out 2 giving BSC 8 strikeouts for the game.
BSC's offense really did not produce until the 9th inning as the team recorded 14 total strikeouts. But in the 9th the highlight was by Chase Chambers who got a big single in the 9th plating Tyler Frazier and Peyton Durham making the score 6-4. Caleb Marrow came up next to have a chance to tie the game but struck out swinging to end the game.
The Big Blues continue on the road as they travel to Greensboro, NC to take on Guilford. First pitch will be at 2:00 Saturday. Check back on our website for more updates on this game.
