Box Score 2 Hickory, NC- The Lady Blues were back in action Sunday, playing another double header against Glenville State and Bear Bash Host's, Lenoir Rhyne.
The Lady Blues played Glenville State to start their day which was a rematch from Saturday's contest in which Glenville St. won 10-0. This second game did not see a much better result as the Lady Blues lost 11-1 in 5 innings.
Rosanne De Vries took the mound to start the game and pitched 1 and a 1/3rd innings. She gave 6 runs on 4 hits and ended up taking the loss for the game. Amanda Cokeley came on as relief for the remainder of the game, pitching 2 and 2/3rd innings giving up 5 runs on 3 hits.
BSC's lone run of the weekend came in the top of the 3rd inning when Rosanne was able to plate Chelsea Duncan after Rose doubled to left center.
Bluefield State's second game was against tournament host's Lenoir-Rhyne. Emily Day was the starting pitcher for the Blues. Things did not start well for the Lady Blues as the Bears were able to capitalize early, scoring 10 runs in the first inning. But BSC was able to bounce back a little in the second when Rosanne De Vries came on for relief and pitched a scoreless bottom half of the inning. But the Lenoir-Rhyne line up was just too much for the Lady Blues and they ended up scoring 5 in the 3rd and 6 in the 4th. The Blues were unable to muster and runs when they batted and so the game ended after 5 innings with a final score of 21-0.
The Lady Blues will look to rebound this Friday, Feb. 12th, when they travel to Raleigh, NC to face the Falcons of St. Augustine's University. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with the second game scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Please check back here for updates and links to Live Stats and Video.
