Bluefield, WV- The Big Blues had their first home competition today against Wingate University. The match started at 1:00 pm and was played at Bluefield College because the men were over on the City Courts. Wingate was some very tough competition for the ladies as they lost 9-0.
The doubles matches were all very competitive as Bluefield State was able to push Wingate in all 3 of those matches. #2 doubles of Laura and Maria Hernandez were most notable as they pushed Claudia De Andreis and Maria Garcia to the limit taking 3 games.
But Wingate's singles line up were the team's strength as they took care of their Bluefield State opponents. Tafaszwa Mawisire of the Big Blues put up a very strong fight winning 3 games in the 2nd set. Laura Hernandez also was in both of her sets winning 2 games each.
Below is a detailed result of all the matches against Wingate.
