Winter Haven, FL- The Big Blues had a neutral site competition against Bentley University from Massachusetts. Each team is on their Spring Break road trip and fortunate enough to play in sunny South Florida. Bentley was a tough opponent for the Blues as they lost by a score of 7-2.
Things started out well for the ladies with Wendy Rudhu and Tafadzwa Mawisire won their doubles match handily by a score of 8-4. The two have been playing well together all season and put together another strong performance in their win today.
The singles matches with Bentley were all highly contested and could have gone Bluefield State's way in a few. Rudhu, Mawisire, Maria Herandez, and Marta Briales all took their match to the 3rd set with all very close results. The lone singles win was by Mawisire. She lost the first set 2-6 but ended up battling back winning the next 2 sets by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
The Ladies will play their final match in sunny Florida tomorrow against Rollins before returning home to a nice reception of snow in Bluefield, WV over the weekend.
