Box Score 2 Princeton, WV- The Big Blues played their final double header against the Saint Augustine Falcons today at Hunnicutt Field in Princeton, WV. These two teams played 4 games last weekend down in Raleigh, NC with each team winning 2 games. Today was also split, with the Big Blues winning the first game 5-2 and the Falcons winning the second 8-6.
The Big Blues sent Jacob Muncy to the mound for the first game of the Double Header. Muncy pitched very well, going the entire 7 inning game. He only gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, walking 2. But the big stat of the day was Muncy's 5 strikeouts.
The Big Blues were very active on the bases in the first game, swiping 5 bags. Of those 5 bags stolen, 2 were in the 2nd inning when the Big Blues scored 3 runs. Chaz Rutherford and Cody Underwood were able to steal second in the inning. The Falcons also committed an error in the inning helping the Big Blues plate a run.
Game 2 saw two crazy innings, one benefiting the Blues the other benefiting the Falcons. The Big Blues big inning came in the 1st when they jumped all over the Falcons pitcher. The Big Blues scored 6 runs in the inning, getting production from every player in the lineup as the team batted around. The Big Blues got 5 hits in the inning and was also able to swipe 2 bags to help add to the impressive inning. But after that the Big Blues offense stalled out, only getting 1 more hit for the rest of the game.
The Falcon's big inning came in the 5th inning in which they scored 7 runs. The Big Blues defense was missing in the inning as they had 2 errors, both would have gotten the team out of the inning with the lead.
After the 5th the Big Blues could not get any more runs and lost the game 8-6. Over all these teams were very even as they split the 2 weekend series 3-3.
