Box Score 2 Fayetteville, NC- Big Blues had a win in their grasp but lost it in some late inning drama at Fayetteville State and ended up losing in a walk off by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately due to a major team injury at the end of the 1st game the Big Blues could not compete in the 2nd game as they only had 8 players.
Rosanne De Vries started in the circle for the Big Blues and pitched a very good game only giving up 2 runs on 4 hits. Once again batters could not hit her, as she struck out 6 on the day. Unfortunately she was unable to complete the game as she tweaked her knee when she was on base in the 7th inning. Amanda Cokeley came in for relief and seemed a little rattled by what happened to Rose. She gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, one of those being the walk off run.
On the offensive side Shonte Cargill had a very strong outing. Cargoll had 2 hits, collecting a RBI and scoring herself. Cargill ran well on the bases collecting a stolen base on her way to scoring a run.
The double header tomorrow against King has been cancelled tomorrow due to potential weather problems. The Big Blues will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel up to Charleston for a double header against University of Charleston.
