MBB Finishes Season With Win

Box Score

Denmark, SC- The Big Blues finished up their 2016-2017 with a road trip to Denmark, SC to take on NAIA Division II team Voorhees College. The Big Blues were able to end the season on a high note and send the 5 seniors out with a win by a score of 85-79.

Coach Derrick Price went with the all Senior line up in the last game of the season and they played like it. 4 of the 5 starters had double digit points for the night. Marcus Richardson led the way with 19 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Joshua Windham was right behind Richardson, scoring 18 points. He also grabbed 10 rebounds to give him a double-double to end his career at Bluefield State. Julian Hernandez and Jamal McCoy each had 13 points to end their careers. Finally, James Day was just short of double-digit points, scoring 8 for the game. However, he was a force on the glass and secured 9 rebounds, 8 on the defensive end.

In the final game of the season, the team shot 44.8% from the floor and 47.6% from 3. These 5 seniors have really been a great group to watch. The Big Blues end the season 8-18, one more win than last year. Coach Price will be hitting the recruiting trail hard this off season to help fill the holes left by these 5 seniors.
