Big Blues Improve to 5-0

Bluefield, WV- The #1 Team in the Atlantic Region was back at it again, this time taking on West Virginia Wesleyan. The Bobcats made the Atlantic Region Tournament last season but ultimately lost in the 1st round before facing Bluefield State. This season the Big Blues got the better of the Bobcats again, winning 7-2.

Bluefield State once again took an early lead and never looked back winning all three doubles matches. Platon Gud and Luca Ockernahl continued their excellent run at the #1 doubles winning 8-3. Ignacio Pulido/Giorgi Datashvili and Anthony Braem/Alexandr Rudenco each won their doubles contests as well.

The singles matches saw Bluefield State roll again, winning 4 of the 6 contests. Anthony Braem was in a tough contest at the #2 doubles but pulled out a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Alexandr Rudenco was in the match of the completion, seeing it go 3 sets. Unfortunately, he was on the losing end for the match but it was a very hard fought contest. Rudenco lost the 1st set 7-6 but came back and won the 2nd 6-4. In the 3rd Rudenco just ran out of steam, losing 10-5.

Bluefield State's next match is Thursday against West Liberty. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 pm at the City Courts. Check back for details and results of the mid-week competition.
