Bluefield State College Men's basketball wins third straight game a row

Box Score

The Big Blues beat West Virginia Tech to earn their third straight win of the season, 95-94.

Men's basketball advanced their winning streak to three after a victory over West Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The Big Blues are now 9-8 on the season. BSC was led to a 95-94 win by sophomore guard Marquez Cooper, who scored 24 points, 5 rebounds and had five assists.

Along with Cooper, the combination of forwards Alex Nunnally, Chris Knight, and Saveon Falls gave the Blues a boost on their way to the win. Nunnally finished the game with 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Knight and Falls both added 14 points.

"We played super hard, we did a great job of boxing out and hustling on defense," said sophomore guard Marquez Cooper. "That was one of the biggest things we wanted to improve on. We had been talking about that because we had only been showing it in little spurts in the past games.

"I just tend to think about that next game and I'm always nervous about that next game," said head coach Derrick Price. "I think a team has to be always concerned about the next game because basketball is so emotional, and that can go away easily if you don't keep that edge." The Big Blues will face Shaw University on Wednesday, Jan 22nd at 6 p.m. in the Ned Shott Gymnasium.
