"I couldn't be more proud of our team," said B-State Head Coach Brooks Rexroat.
"Coach Rachael set the pacing perfectly for this week's meet, and then our athletes executed the race plan to perfection. On the men's side, we went into the meet with an understanding that Theo would have a great chance to win, and we knew the team performance would come down to how our second through fifth runners fared, and every one of them met or exceeded our expectations on their finish slot." said coach Rexroat.
The men's team took first place for the first time this season in the 8k. Theo Schell led the men's team taking first with a time of 28:14.0. Lavon McClarrin followed with a third-place finish with a time of 30:15.0.
Luke Busse placed top 10 as finishing fifth with a time of 32:27.0. Trevor Nefe placed sixth as well Friday with a time of 32:31.0.
"After taking time away from the sport in military service, Lavon McClarrin is really showing us the bright future he has. Teddy, Luke, and Trevor ran gutty races and showed the kind of grit and determination that we center our whole program around. This is invitational win number one for me as a head coach, and while we hope there are plenty more to come, there's no group I could've been prouder to experience this moment with." said coach Rexroat.
The Big Blue have a bye this upcoming weekend. Friday, October 29 they will participate in the Bluefield College Invitational.
