BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Soccer team (4-9-0) fell in overtime to Carolina University in a midweek match-up Wednesday evening at East River Soccer Complex, 2-3.

The Big Blue and the Bruins kept the game scoreless for most of the first half. Hayden Pacheco got things started for the Bruins, scoring their first goal at the 36-minute mark unassisted.
Rachel Major answered for the Big Blue with a header into the goal off a corner kick from
Alex Harding, scoring at the 40-minute mark.

About Midway in the second half, Bluefield State's
Ava Jakich-Kunze scored at the 63-mark assisted by
Bianka Zeitvogel. Late in the half
Kennedy Munoz fouled inside the goal box. As result, the Bruins received a penalty kick.

Aaliyah Rubio gave the Bruins their second point of the game at the 89-minute mark off the penalty kick. At the end of regulation, the game was tied, 2-2.

The game went into one 10-minute half. The Big Blue battled but, Mary Jester scored at the 94-minute mark, giving the Bruins the win in overtime.

Noemi Christ had 5 saves off of 9 shots on goal. The Big Blue outshot the Bruins 10-9.Â

"In a game where we dominated, we simply needed to be more clinical in front of goal and put the game out of reach," said coach Forster.
