BLUEFIELD - The Bluefield State Men's tennis team traveled to take on the Crusaders from Belmont Abbey on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. The Crusaders came out strong winning the number 1 and number 2 positions to take the doubles point.
In the singles competition, the teams split the top four positions, and with wins by Zak Khalil and
Tom Schmieta the Big Blue trailed 3-2 heading into the last two matches. Needing only one more point for the win the Crusaders would not go away quietly. Belmont fought back to even the match at 3-3 before Juliana Jimenez was able to seal the victory with a thrilling Super-tiebreaker win 10-6.
Fabian Avilla won a thrilling marathon Super-tiebreaker 13-11 to even the match at 3-3. With the pressure on,
Teddy Razafindratsima won a tightly contested match at the number 6 position 7-5,7-6 to seal the victory for the team.
