Box Score 2 BLUEFIELD - A long season got longer for the Big Blue softballers as they dropped a home doubleheader Saturday afternoon to the Lees-McRae Bobcats, 10-1 and 12-1. Both games ended after five innings.
In Game 1, freshman Kylie Nelson started and pitched four innings allowing seven runs. Madison Thompson pitched the fifth allowing three.
A highlight for the Big Blue was senior Lisette Rosales' solo home run in the third.
In Game 2, Ashlee Brassart started. After a scoreless first inning, Lees-McRae scored two in the second on a throwing error and a double by the Bobcats' Katelyn Wyatt. The Bobcats added four more in the third with a pair of doubles and an RBI single. They finished their scoring with six in the fourth.
The Big Blue scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Lisette Rosales.
Kennedy James relieved Brassart. While the Big Blue pitchers were battered by Bobcat hitters, they weren't helped by the defense giving up only three earned runs.
