Box Score INSTITUTE, WV - The Bluefield State Soccer team opened up their regular season play against West Virginia State University Friday evening in Institute, West Virginia. The Big Blue fell, 2-0 for the first time on the road against the Yellowjackets.

"Our first loss had to happen at some time but I'm very proud about how we handle a very challenging opponent in West Virginia State University. We never gave up and battled against what is an experienced set of players and I'm very proud of the contributions across the board and the lessons that we have learned from today."
The Yellowjackets got out in front first with a goal from Brooklyn Pritt with a shot from wide left into the right side of the net. Midway in the second half, the Yellowjackets grab their second goal at the 72-minute mark.
Goalkeeper Noemi Christ registered 11 saves off of the Yellowjacket's 13 shots on goal. The Yellowjacket's totaled in 21 shots compared to the Big Blue seven.
