Soccer Falls Short To Lincoln Memorial

Box Score
HARROGATE, TN  - The Bluefield State Soccer team hit the road to Tennessee to compete against Lincoln Memorial University Sunday afternoon. The Big Blue fell short, 4-0 against the Railspitters.

"Today we competed against a team that's appeared in the NCAA tournament in the last two times it's been held. Including a regional sweet 16 appearance. That class showed but I'm very happy to be able to take these challenges and learn. It's not the result we wanted but I'm super proud of the girls and their ability to compete in long spells against a team of elite upper-classmen."

The Railsplitters went up 2-0 in the first half. The first goal was scored by Rachel Taylor, assisted by Kyara Vanheuverswijn at the 32-minute mark. Jessica Cravero gave the Railsplitters their second goal at the 42-minute mark, assisted by Mimi Neijens.

The Big Blue struggled to make shots in both halves. Only shooting twice in the first period and shooting none in the second. Taylor and Cravero traded off goals Sunday afternoon. Giving the Railsplitters the two goals in the second half.

Goalkeeper Noemi Christ only captured one save Sunday afternoon.
