Men's Tennis Goes 1-2 at Florence Invitational

FLORENCE, South Carolina - The Bluefield State men's tennis team went (1-2) at the Raines Company City of Florence Invitational Tournament at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.

The Big Blue started the tournament strong going 4-0 against Newberry College. Luke Busse and Fabian Avail-Torres clinching court three. Teddy Razafindratsima and Juan Manuel De Freitas continued the momentum with a win on court two and put the Big Blue in the lead 2-0 for doubles play. 
Frederik Bau-Madsen extended the Big Blue lead with a win in his singles match,  (6-0, 6-2). Tom Schmieta secured a convincing win (6-2, 6-3), giving the Big Blue their first win of the season over Newberry College.

Later that day in game two against Barton College, the men take the early lead claiming court one and court three in their doubles matches. 
In singles play, the Big Blue fought hard, but Barton College came back to win four matches allowing the Bulldogs to take the 2-4 win.

The Big Blue found themselves 0-2 at the start of day two of the Florence Invitational against Lenoir Rhyne University in doubles. The first singles match of the game goes to Lenoir Rhyne allowing the Bears to extend their lead over the Big Blue. 
Luke Busse clinches a strong win for the men on court 3 (6-1, 6-4) but ultimately the men fell 4-1 against the Bears.

The Big Blue will travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia for the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational. The first serve is set for 11:30 am.
