Women's Tennis Falls at Florence Invitational

FLORENCE, South Carolina - The Big Blue women fall 0-3 at the Raines Company City of Florence Tennis invitational.

In the first game of the day, the Big Blue faced Coker University and started strong in doubles play with Shreya Chakrabarly and Juliana Jimenez playing well together and clinching court 1 (6-2). 
Ghita Courdi and Virginia Zanotti end doubles play winning court 2 (7-5). In singles play, Juliana Jimenez grabbed the first win (6-4, 6-0) extending the Big Blue lead to 3-0. Unfortunately, the Cobras made a major comeback to win the game leaving Bluefield State with a 3-4 loss.

Later in the evening, the ladies took on the University of Mount Olive with the Trojans securing doubles play leading the game 2-0. In the singles matches the Big Blue fought hard to secure two wins with Ghita Courdi clinching a strong first win of singles play (6-0, 6-0) leaving no room for doubt. 
Virginia Zanotti wins court 2 grabbing another win for the ladies in their second game (6-1, 6-3). The Trojans compete hard and eventually grab the win over Bluefield State winning the game 2-4.

On day 2 of the invitational, the women face Barton College to, unfortunately, fall 2-4 in their last game. The Big Blue fell short in the doubles matches and heading into single play 0-2. 
In the first four matches of singles play a very intense back and forth fight between the Big Blue and the Bulldogs showed the women's grit and determination. Juliana Jimenez started the singles play clinching a 6-1, 6-2 easy win over Barton. 
After the Bulldogs grabbed two more wins in doubles play, Shreya Chakrabarly grabs another win for the Big Blue (6-1, 6-4). Again, the ladies fall short and end the game 2-4.

The Big Blue will travel to Lawrenceville, Georgia for the Georgia Gwinnett Invitational. The first serve is set for 11:30 am.
