BRIDGEWATER, Virginia -- The women's 4X100-meter relay team led the Big Blue with a second-place finish on the day. Individual placers included freshman
Abbey Puckett (fourth in the 400-meter dash), senior Paula Raez (fifth in the high jump), and junior Shreya Chakraborty (eighth in the 200m dash).
For the men,
Trevor Nefe finished third in both the high jump and the 400-meter hurdles.
"We scaled back our event registration to focus in on a few events," said Bluefield State Head Coach
Brooks Rexroat. "This is the time of year when bumps and bruises can start to show up, so we wanted to compete while limiting some wear-and-tear. Driving wind and a mid-meet snowstorm delay meant very few athletes were hitting their top marks, but we saw some mechanical and technical development that will hopefully lead to good things as we move deeper into the season. It was a miserable day to be outside for all the competitors, but the meet hosts did a great job adapting and our team showed great resilience. We're ready to dig into some training and prepare for the next contest.
