Institute, WV – Bluefield State University softball fell to West Virginia State University on Tuesday 14-1 and 13-2.
Game One
The Big Blue lone run came in the second after Hannah Fisher and Taylor Henson hit back-to-back singled to left field and Valeria Rivera collected the RBI to bring Fisher home. West Virginia State went on to score seven in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth to take the 14-1 win over Bluefield State.
Game Two
West Virginia State took the early lead over the Big Blue scoring six in the second and third and one in the fourth. In the fifth, Paige Whittington reached first off of an error by West Virginia State followed by a single through the left side from Calla Cooksey. Emma Crawford brought one in for the Big Blue after reaching first due to a fielding error. Later in the inning, Rivera grounded out to the shortstop but brought one across the plate for the Big Blue. Despite scoring two runs late, the Big Blue fell to West Virginia State 13-2.
