Richmond, VA- Bluefield State University Volleyball secured a commanding 3-1 victory over Virginia Union in CIAA volleyball action at Barco-Stevens Hall on Monday.
Despite a slow start, with Virginia Union taking the first set 25-17, Big Blue quickly regrouped and dominated the next three sets, winning 24-20, 25-21, and 25-21 to close out the match.
Big Blue came out firing in the third, winning 25-21. Their attack efficiency soared as they recorded 13 kills with only 3 errors, hitting an impressive .286 as a team.
Big Blue Jannice Lynch led the way with 15 kills and a .313 hitting percentage, while Gabby Hale dished out 31 assists and added 6 digs. Imani Stokes also contributed 11 kills, maintaining a .333 attack percentage. Defensively, Sydney Hoosier was a standout with 26 digs, helping her team stay strong against Virginia Union's offense.
The match saw Bluefield State improve to 4-12 (2-0 CIAA), while Virginia Union dropped to 3-11 (0-2 CIAA).
Up Next: Bluefield State will travel to Winston Salem, NC October 5th to take part in the CIAA Roundup where they will face off with Johnson C Smith, Winston Salem State, and Claflin University.
