Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Concord University 103-88 at Ned Shott Gymnasium. The Big Blue moved to 3-1 on the year, with the Mountain Lions falling to 0-3.
Jordan Hinds started the scoring with a three from the wing to give the Big Blue the early lead. After back-and-forth play and the score tied at 18, the Mountain Lions scored the next five to take the 23-18 lead. Down by one, the Big Blue scored 14 in a row to take the 44-31. With two minutes left, Jaylen Bernard completed the three-point play to extend the Big Blue lead to 17. The Mountain Lions cut the deficit to 14 going into the half.
With 7:37 left, the Mountain Lions cut the Big Blue lead to eight. A three by Romeo Aquino with 1:30 left in regulation pushed the Big Blue lead to 12. The Big Blue scored the final points of the game through a dunk by Darius Boben to seal the 103-88 win over Concord University.
Hinds led all players with 29 points and six rebounds, followed by Daron Traylor with 15, Jaylen Bernard with 13, Romeo Aquino with 12, and Larry Howell with 10. Rell Williams led all players with nine rebounds.
