Bluefield, VA – Bluefield State University softball hosted Alice Lloyd College in a double header contest on Friday.
Game One
After both teams went scoreless in the first inning, the Eagles added six in the top of the second and two in the third. Madison Roland doubled down the left field line to start the fourth inning and Valeria Rivera was later hit by the pitch to get on first. After an error by the Eagles, Roland scored to add one for the Big Blue. After a three up three down inning for the Eagles, the Big Blue added two. Paige Whittington singled to the pitcher and later stole second to move into scoring position. Later, Bella Coffman doubled down the left field line to bring in Whittington. Roland singled up the middle bring in the second run of the inning. The Eagles added one in the top of the sixth inning, but the Big Blue tacked on two in the bottom of the inning. Roland reached base on an Eagles error in the seventh, but the Big Blue could not overcome the deficit, falling 9-5.
Game Two
The Eagles scored the only runs of the game in the third inning to take the 3-0 lead. The Big Blue attempted to rally in the bottom of the seventh, with Julianna Costanzo drawing the two out walk. Calla Cooksey singled up the middle to move the runner into scoring position. Whittington singled to load the bases, but the Big Blue weren't able to bring a run across falling 3-0.

The Big Blue will travel to Spartanburg, NC to compete in the CIAA/SIAC Classic February 16th – 18th.
