Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Lincoln (PA) University 78-65. The Big Blue improve to 12-7 (5-4 CIAA) with the Lions picking up their first conference loss of the season 14-7 (9-1 CIAA).
The Lions jumped out to a 4-0 lead. The Big Blue tied it after two free throws from Shainen Carter and a dunk from Larry Howell. The Lions pushed ahead to take the six-point lead midway through the half, but the Big Blue pulled within one after a three from Daron Traylor and a layup by Jordan Hinds. After the score was tied five times, the Big Blue outscored the Lions 9-3 in the last minute to take the 37-31 lead into the half.
The Big Blue had their largest lead of the night (+15) after a jumper from Rell Williams with 14:11 left to play. The Lions pulled within single digits of the Big Blue after a trip to the line with three minutes left to play, but the Big Blue outscored the Lions 9-4 to close out play and secure the 78-65 victory.
Jordan Hinds led the Big Blue with 19 points and 9 rebounds followed by Rell Williams with 17 points and Romeo Aquino with 14 points.
