Bluefield, WV – Bluefield State University men's basketball collected their first win of the season after a 63-52 victory over Bluefield University.
After trailing 29-28 at the half, the Big Blue outscored the Rams 35-23 in the second half to pull away. The Big Blue controlled the glass throughout the night, finishing with a 52-35 rebounding advantage and 18 offensive boards.
After falling behind 19-5 early, the Big Blue responded with a 23-10 run to close the half to stay within one at the break. The Big Blue came out with renewed energy in the second half, to take the 35-34 lead after a Kyree Smith dunk. The Big Blue held the advantage the rest of the way to take the 63-52 victory over the Rams.
Anthony Davenport led the Big Blue with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Myles Pierre added 11 points, knocking down three threes. Kyree Smith led all players with 12 rebounds and added seven points.
