Petersburg, VA – Bluefield State University men's basketball late rally fell short against Virginia State 89-78. The Big Blue fall to 14-10 (7-6 CIAA) with the Trojans moving to 15-8 (9-3 CIAA).
The Trojans set the tone early, building a 21-point lead at the half. The Trojans shot 59% from the field, with the Big Blue shooting 52% from the field in the first half.
The Big Blue answered in the second half, outscoring the Trojans 50-40, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome. Romeo Aquino led the Big Blue with 19 points and five rebounds, while Larry Howell added 17 points and six rebounds. Darius Boben provided a spark off the bench with 10 points.
