Baltimore, MD – Bluefield State University men's basketball earned the 2nd seed in the Northern Division heading into the CIAA Tournament. The Big Blue finished the regular season 17-10 (10-6 CIAA).
"Reflecting on our 2024-25 season, I'm incredibly proud of our team's dedication and resilience. Finishing with a 17-10 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the CIAA, we've shown that hard work pays off," said Head Coach Devin Hoehn.
The Big Blue are currently on a three-game win streak: Bowie State (101-90), Lincoln University (73-62), and Elizabeth City State (77-76). The Big Blue will play the winner of the opening round game (February 26th at 10 a.m.) against Johnson C. Smith (3S) and Elizabeth City State (6N) on Thursday, February 27th at 2 p.m.
"Securing the No. 2 seed in the Northern Division for the CIAA Tournament is a testament to our collective effort," said Devin Hoehn. "As we head to Baltimore, our focus remains on taking it one game at a time. Let's keep this momentum going!"
The Big Blue are led by the leading scorer in the CIAA Jordan Hinds. Hinds currently has 519 points on the year, averaging 20.8 points per game, 160 rebounds, 64 assists, 48 steals and 13 blocks. Hinds is shooting 49% from the field and 78% from the line. On the defensive side, Shainen Carter leads the Big Blue and ninth across division II schools with 57 blocks. Rell Williams leads the Big Blue in rebounds with 166, adding 352 points, 149 assists and 56 steals.
