Greeneville, TN – Bluefield State University softball dropped two against Tusculum University, 0-8 and 0-1. The Big Blue looks to bounce back in the Montreat College Round-Up on February 7th and 8th against Alice Lloyd and Montreat College.
Game One – 8-0 L
After a scoreless first inning, the Pioneers got on the board in the second and added seven more runs in the fourth. Natalie Quezada collected two hits, with Janessah Nappi and Lauryn DeGuzman with one apiece. Quezada collected the loss in the circle for the Big Blue, throwing four innings, giving up nine hits, eight runs, and one walk.
Game Two – 1-0 L
The Big Blue outhit the Pioneers six to four but weren't able to capitalize, stranding three runners on base. Paige Whittington, Madison Roland, Nappi, Julianna Costanzo, Jackie Sandy and Lexi Shadowens each came away with one hit. A solo home run in the sixth was the difference for the Pioneers to take the victory over the Big Blue.
Sandy took the loss in relief, allowing one run on two hits over 2.1 innings. Taylor Fells started in the circle, tossing 3.2 scoreless innings while striking out one.
