Pippa Passes, KY – Bluefield State University softball fell to Alice Lloyd in a doubleheader contest, 6-4 and 13-0.
In game one, the Eagles took the early lead, scoring three in the third and one in the fourth. The Big Blue got on the board in the fifth after back-to-back singles from Mikaylah Chimara and Paige Whittington, followed by a successful double steal to put both runners in scoring position. Lexi Shadowens collected the RBI, scoring Chimara.
The Eagles added two more in the sixth to extend their lead, 6-4. La'Naeyah Ayers led off the seventh with a home run to pull within four. Chimara collected her second hit of the game with a single, followed by Whittington with a triple to cut the Eagles' lead to three. Shadowens brought home Whittington to pull within two, but the Big Blue rally fell short, falling 6-4.
Natalie Quezada picked up the loss in the circle for the Big Blue, giving up seven hits and four runs.
The lone hit for the Big Blue in game two came from Shadowens, who later advanced on an Eagles' error and a passed ball. Maggie Mullin and Quezada each threw two innings for the Big Blue. Mullin struck out one and walked four, giving up four hits and seven runs. Quezada gave up eight hits, six runs, and walked one.
