Charlotte, NC- Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Johnson C. Smith 71-63 in an overtime battle. The Big Blue improve to 5-11 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
The back-and-forth matchup featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes. Both teams struggled offensively early, with the Big Blue trailing 29-25 at the half. The Big Blue bounced back in the second half, outscoring the Golden Bulls 33-29, to force the overtime period. The Big Blue took complete control in overtime, scoring 13 points and holding the Golden Bulls to just five points to secure the 71-63 victory.
Myles Pierre led the Big Blue with a game-high 23 points, including five threes. Warren Mouganda added 15 points and five rebounds while Anthony Latty posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Ellija Preddy nearly recorded a triple-double, finishing with 10 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds.
