Wilmington, DE- Bluefield State University women's basketball used a high-scoring first quarter to take down Lincoln (PA) 96-73. The Big Blue improve to 13-10 overall and 7-7 in CIAA play.
The Big Blue took control from the opening tip, overwhelming the Lions 30-10 in the first quarter. The Big Blue defense forced 39 turnovers and collected 29 steals, converting those steals into 49 points. Although the Lions tried to chip away at the lead in the second half, the Big Blue held firm to secure the 96-73 victory.
Jhakia Gist led the Big Blue with 20 points, including five threes, and added six steals. Jasmine Jenkins contributed 16 points and five steals with Jayla Sample coming away with 15 points, 5 steals, and four assists. Azori Edwards rounded out the double-digit scoring with 13 points.
