Baltimore, MD – Bluefield State University men's basketball took down Winston-Salem State in the Opening Round 65-55.
The Big Blue established an early rhythm, heading into the half with a 36-22 lead. While the Rams outscored the Big Blue 33-29 in the second half, but the Big Blue used efficient free-throw shooting (92.3%) and a 34-21 rebounding margin proved to be the difference. The Big Blue outscored the Rams in the paint 32-26 in the paint and recorded 18 second-chance points.
Myles Pierre led the Big Blue with 14 points while Anthony Davenport contributed 12 points and six rebounds. Sila Tako provided a major spark off the bench with 11 points and seven rebounds with Anthony Latty finishing with a game-high 10 rebounds. Ellija Preddy orchestrated the offense with seven assists.
