Bluefield, VA – Bluefield State University softball completed the sweep over Bluefield University, 7-0 and 10-4.
Game One – 7-0 W
The Big Blue struck early, scoring three in the first and two in the second 5-0. The Big Blue held the Rams scoreless and added one in the fourth to secure the 7-0 win.
Paige Whittington and Mikaylah Chimara both went 3-for-3 on the day. Chimara and Yonah Rogers added two RBIs. On the bases, Whittington came away with three stolen bases while Skyy Hicks added two.
Yonah Rogers threw the complete game for the Big Blue allowing four hits while striking out two.
Game Two – 10-4 W
The Rams offense showed some life, scoring one in the first and second. The Big Blue bounced back with four runs in the third to take the 4-2 lead. The Big Blue offense pulled away in the fifth with five runs, highlighted by a two RBI double by Amaya Corona. The Rams attempted to rally late by adding one in the sixth and one in the seventh, but the Big Blue secured the 10-4 victory.
Whitting and Corona led the Big Blue with three hits with Madison Roland adding two. Corona, Sydney Leadbetter, Roland and Myraql McGee came away with two RBIs each.
Taylor Fells earned the win in the circle, throwing six innings allowing five hits, three walks while striking out four.
